Mac only: Sometimes it’s a pain working with text and extracting data from it. It’s tedious and easy to make a typo or miss a snippet of data. Let’s do something about that.

At the venerable Lifehacker blog, Thorin Klosowski highlights a group of Automator actions called TextFlow that can do things like:

  • Extract URLs
  • Extract email addresses
  • Make text uppercase or lowercase
  • Remove empty lines
  • And tons more

If you’re a writer or coder, this can potentially save you a hours of time.
